Darkari looks at identity through movement, color, and distortion. It studies what happens when a person breaks apart and tries to find shape. The work comes from a place of faith and rebuilding, an attempt to see oneself the way God might see it: flawed, searching, alive.
The process is simple and human. Layers are torn, rearranged, and pushed until they feel honest. Each image holds something unfinished, something that cannot be explained completely. It is not decoration; it is confession.
Darkari follows the same belief that drives Archive Detroit: what we make is proof of the design already written into us.

Hand-selected by Tony Irving, Christopher “Darkari” Owens was brought on to assist in styling and movement direction for Holiday Magazine’s Detroit Edition. His role extended beyond visual coordination, bridging the energy of Detroit’s creative pulse with the refined minimalism of Holiday’s editorial language.
Through an intuitive sense of form and rhythm, Darkari shaped the atmosphere of each frame, guiding motion and presence to reflect authenticity over performance. The result captures Detroit not as a backdrop, but as a living narrative of identity and transformation.

Each image in this chapter exists in the shadow of death, moments suspended in absence where form dissolves and reason falters. The figures drift through the void, searching for meaning in the quiet space between surrender and salvation. These are not portraits of finality but of confrontation, the human soul facing what it fears most: separation from its Maker.
Within the darkness, light persists. The grace of the Lord becomes the only compass. Through His mercy, what was once lost is found again. Death is not the end; it is the threshold of revelation.

Just minutes before the show, Illy Cartier turned to Darkari and said, “Go with your vision.”
With no set direction, only trust, he shaped the moment into form. Drawing from instinct and the atmosphere backstage, he built light, tone, and emotion around what was already in motion.
The lookbook became more than documentation; it was a response, an act of faith in intuition. Within the chaos of the runway’s final moments, clarity emerged. Darkari focused and made it happen.

This project continues that search. Shot for Supreme, it treats fashion as language that speaks about faith as much as form. The portraits do not perform; they reveal. Light, color, and presence point back to what is real: we reflect the design of the divine

sōl — Chapter I: Moon Children
The death of my daughter was the most crushing moment of my life. It shattered the illusion of control, the hope I had built, the future I imagined, the idea that love could keep everything together. In losing her, I lost the world I worshipped.
For years, I was of the earth. I lived without God, bound to money, lust, and indulgence. I mistook chaos for freedom and desire for purpose. Each vice pulled me further from truth, further from the light that had been calling me since the beginning.
Through the grace of the Lord, I began to see that even in death, He is sovereign. What I once saw as loss became revelation. We are not the masters of our own breath, but stewards of a gift that was never ours to keep.
“But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst;
but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.”
— John 4:14
“In Him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
— John 1:4–5
